Arobin - Lineart Colored

Description

Well, after favoriting it, I wasn't really planning on coloring it, but today I had a snow day, and I felt like coloring. Lol.

I really wish that I had the ability to draw. Even more, to do linearts, because I love being able to fill them with color and magicness. Heh.

So this was :iconmissxuilan:'s "nameless" character lineart. Drawing credit goes to her, coloring goes to moi.
Lineart: [link]

I thought Arobin suited him, but that's just my opinion. I got the name from the book, "The Awakening" by Kate Chopin, which I have about twenty more pages left to read of it. The character is this guy who annoys me, named Alcée Arobin. So Arobin was actually his last name. And I have absolutely NO idea how to pronounce Alcée. Is it French?

-_- He also looks too much like a demon in my opinion, which wasn't what I was going for when I started.

The color theme I got from the German flag.

Annnd, when I finished it, I went to go get the link to the lineart, and I saw that she had already colored it, too! Lol. I guess you could classify his hair as "orange" in her drawing, and at the beginning that was the color I originally wanted to do, but then ended up switching it to red and black.

Honestly, and I have no idea, but the whole time I was coloring it, I kept thinking how much he looked like :iconfliff:'s character Youzuki.

(The one on the far right.) [link]

Anyway, that was not intentional.

Overall, I guess I'm satisfied with this. I do hope :iconmissxuilan: likes it. I was going to actually try a new coloring style with this tutorial: [link] (You should check it out! :D )
...but my Photoshop hates me, so I couldn't.

Okay, I'm done talking now, heh...

It looks great 8D But It seems that the burn and screen tools didn't like the colors too much xD

I have a suggestion? I hope it helps ^^;

But when you're coloring, instead of using the burn and screen tool, you can make pallets of darker and lighter colors for the shadows and highlights. Hair and eyes, anything glossy or shiny are ussually at extremes. Like really dark to really bright ratio's for the shadows and highlights. Then you use the pallets on a separate layer so you can just make them disappear at the end. 83 You use that for each area like each item of the body, skin, hair, shirt, eyes, etc. 8D That way you can change the colors slightly like if you want the shadow of his hair to be tinted purple, or whatev, you can add that color contrast. The smudge tool really helps too with this way of coloring. 8)

I hope that helps! 8D But if you want to keep using the burn and screen tool it seems that you could really perfect it if you kept at it. Or you could even use them together! 8D
